About the program
We have over 500 undergraduate majors and 40 Ph.D. students in the department. Our faculty conduct both basic science and applied research supported by grants from various federal agencies and foundations.

The Department of Psychology at Mississippi State University is celebrating our 50th anniversary this year! During this time, the department has seen tremendous growth and is now one of the largest departments in the College of Arts and Sciences at Mississippi State. The Department also houses a Psychology Clinic that provides scientifically-informed psychological services for the Golden Triangle community. Our Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology trains students in a rigorous curriculum that includes required courses in research design, behavioral statistics, biological psychology, cognitive psychology, social psychology, abnormal behavior, learning theory, and developmental psychology. Students also choose a series of electives from a wide range of exciting course offerings that are popular with students across the university. Starting in fall 2018, this degree is also offered via on-line education for students across the globe.
